Progress on repairs to damaged reticulation water main in eThekwini

The recent havoc wreaked by heavy rains near Umbilo River in Westville resulted in the damage of a crucial reticulation water main, triggering a series of disruptions in water supply to several areas.

However, swift action from the Water and Sanitation Unit has been instrumental in ensuring that repairs are well underway, with an anticipated completion date of today, 24 March.

Furthermore, the heavy rainfall on 20 March only worsened the situation, exacerbating the disruption of water supply to Westville and its surroundings.

The wash away of the reticulation water main and its supporting pillars across Umbilo River necessitated urgent attention, as it plays a vital role in conveying water from the Salisbury Reservoir to various parts of Westville.
