GOOD Party part ways with Peter de Villiers

Former Springbok rugby coach Peter de Villiers’ membership of GOOD has been terminated by the party.

De Villiers termination come after an internal disciplinary process found him guilty of breaching the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

According to TimesLive, de Villiers was removed from his position as a member of the Western Cape legislature.

The GOOD Party had initiated a disciplinary process after receiving a formal complaints that de Villiers was allegedly involved in a sexual misconduct scandal.

The party stated that the nature of these allegations warranted his immediate suspension from party activities pending an investigation and formal disciplinary hearing.

The party appointed Advocate Lionel Esau as an independent chair for the disciplinary hearing, where De Villiers had his own legal representatives present.

Reported by TimesLive Former Cape Town councillor Suzette Little, who serves as the deputy secretary-general of GOOD, was sworn in by the speaker of the provincial legislature on Monday to complete the term ending with the May 29 general elections.

De Villiers out on bail

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Western Cape confirmed that De Villiers has been criminally charged in the Malmesbury Regional Court.

According to IOL, de Villiers has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and crimen injuria

De Villiers was suspended from the party in February following allegations of sexual misconduct.

The party said it would go on with a formal disciplinary action.

According to IOL, GOOD National Chairperson Matthew Cook stated that the NMC’s decision was based on the outcome of a party disciplinary process, which found De Villiers guilty of breaching the GOOD Constitution and Code of Conduct.

De Villiers was released on bail in the Malmesbury court last week.
