AKA murder suspects return to court

The five suspects arrested in connection with the murder of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes will return to the Durban Magistrate’s Court for their bail hearing.

The State is expected to argue against the bail application of the five men. Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29) were charged for the murder of AKA and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

AKA MURDER SUSPECTS RETURN TO COURT

In the last court appearance accused 4 Lindani Ndimande claimed his family was being targeted by the National Intervention Unit (NIU), under the instruction of police management.

Ndimande also accused the police unit of killing six of his siblings. Meanwhile, two of his other brothers are said to be the two men waiting to be extradited from Eswatini. The duo reportedly fled to the country to seek refuge from the NIU.

Furthermore, Ndimande alleged that he was assaulted by police and was forced to confess his involvement in the murder of AKA.

Notably, most of the co-accused have indicated that they have been assaulted by police, forced into confessions or that their families have been threatened, the SABC reported.

R800K PAYMENT TAKES CENTRE STAGE IN COURT

Meanwhile, one of the suspects who orchestrated the murder of AKA, Mziwethemba Gwabeni has denied that the R800 000 paid into his account was for the contract killing.

Gwabeni is adamant the R800 000 deposited into his account was from a reputable company.

Gwabeni said the R803 000 paid into his account was from a reputable company with whom he had done business before. He added that it was for consultation services.

“In fact, our relationship goes back as early as three years back,” he said.
