How much you’ll pay for DIESEL if you live INLAND from next week

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has confirmed next month’s fuel price adjustments which will take effect from midnight on Tuesday, 2 April 2024.

As reported by The South African website throughout March, both diesel types (0.05% and 0.005%) will see price decreases – apart from 0.05% for inland provinces.

Strangely, inland and coastal prices will see different increases – or decreases – for April.

Diesel 0.05% inland will now cost R22.45 per litre, while diesel 0.005% will cost R22.60.

By contrast, at the coast the prices will be R21.66 and R21.84, respectively.

Below, the latest price changes as received by The South African website from the CEF, effective midnight on Tuesday, 2 April 2024.

Diesel 0.05% increase of 3 cents decrease of 4 cents
Diesel 0.005% decrease of 2 cents decrease of 9 cents
Illuminating Paraffin decrease of 29 cents decrease of 26 cents

FUEL PRICE IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPACTED BY TWO MAIN FACTORS:

1. The international price of petroleum products, driven mainly by oil prices

2. The rand/dollar exchange rate used in the purchase of these products


Oil price

At the time of publishing the brent crude oil price is $87.50 a barrel.

Exchange rate

At the time of publishing the rand/dollar exchange rate is R18.92/$.
