Vivian Reddy defends Sorisha in front of President Ramaphosa

Vivian Reddy is “standing on business” when it comes to defending his Real Housewives of Durban wife Sorisha Naidoo. The billionaire businessman even mentioned his involvement in the reality TV show to President Cyril Ramaphosa during an ANC rally over the weekend.

Vivian was speaking at the Siyanqoba Rally held at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 25 May.

The 71-year-old is presumed to have warned Sorisha’s show nemesis, Neil Ramautar, to retract his comments and apologise in the reunion episode, which was aired last week.

During season four of the show, Neil – a make-up artist – called Sorisha a “slut” and “side chick”. He also accused Vivian of “exploiting” his employees.

Speaking at the political rally, Vivian Reddy told the crowd, “I’m just an electrician from KZN . Somehow, I did not get my wires crossed and managed to make it in life, thanks to the ANC.”

Vivian then name-dropped the Real Housewives of Durban drama, involving his wife Sorisha and her co-stars Neil Ramautar and Maria Valaskatzis.

He casually said: “Many of you know I have been trending for the last 48 hours because of my stand against someone who made some comments against my dear wife Sorisha Naidoo from The Real Housewives.

“It’s the principal stand, and I took that stand as it was the only right thing to do. And it’s the same position I’m taking tonight.”

Vivian then went on to pledge his allegiance to the ruling party as he had done since 1990.

Despite mentioning reality TV drama between bored, rich housewives, President Cyril Ramaphosa appeared unfazed by Vivian’s comments. ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula also seemed to be dozing off.

At another public appearance a day before the rally, Vivian Reddy called Neil Ramautar “ill-mannered” – and confirmed he had given him an “ultimatum” to apologise to his wife.

The businessman – affectionately referred to as “Uncle Viv,” said: “It’s very important that we as husbands have to stand up as knights to support our wives and protect them

“I was deeply moved by Sorisha’s act of courage and love on the set of The Real Housewives of Durban. Strength and loyalty and standing up in the face of adversity have left South Africans in awe”.

Meanwhile, many Real Housewives of Durban viewers believe that Neil Ramautar’s apology was likely a result of legal action taken by Vivian Reddy.

During the second installment of the season four reunion, which aired last week, Sorisha Naidoo received a formal apology from Neil.

“I apologise for what I did and said. It was uncalled for. I mean this sincerely”, he said before leaving the set.

However, Neil has seemingly since clapped back at Sorisha’s claims on the show.

On TikTok, the celebrity make-up artist disputed Sorisha’s claims that he did not own the BG Aesthetics business in Durban North.

He also posted a “receipt” of a phone conversation between the two that lasted an hour and forty minutes.
