Steenhuisen has no sympathy for Ramaphosa as MK Party ‘wipes out’ ANC in KZN

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen says he has no sympathy for the African National Congress (ANC) as the Jacob Zuma-led uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party is seemingly “eating away” its voters.

Steenhuisen said as he visited the National Results Operation Centre at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Friday, 31 May.

STEENHUISEN WEIGHS IN ON MK PARTY “VICTORY”

Addressing the media, Steenhuisen said Zuma is a very popular individual and that the ruling party’s inability to hold him to account has actually set up their own hangman’s noose for themselves.

“Had Zuma been where he belongs, which is in jail for the 784 charges of fraud, corruption, and racketeering that Ramaphosa and his party have protected and shielded him from for the last 15 years, perhaps he wouldn’t be leading a political party today. He would be incarcerated in a correctional services facility,” Steenhuisen said.

The DA Federal leader further said he has no sympathy for Ramaphosa and the ANC.

“It’s their spinelessness to deal with the prospect of Mr. Zuma and his sins of a mission and a commission that has led to him being a political force now that has come and wiped them out in places like KwaZulu-Natal and other parts of the country,” he added.

HOW ARE THE PARTIES PERFORMING SO FAR?

As of Friday morning, the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) had counted over 59% of the votes.

The ANC still leads with over 3 million, followed by the DA with 1,9 million votes and the Jacob Zuma-led MK Party is in third place with just over 900 000 votes.

Zuma’s party has seemingly dethroned Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) as the third biggest political party in the country. The EFF is currently in fourth place with just over 790 000 votes.
