Agent confirms first Orlando Pirates signing!

Orlando Pirates have released two players already, as their squad revamp begins ahead of next season.

Pirates are believed to be ready to sell, loan and release a lot more players, but signings are also touted.

So far, the two players that have been let go of by Pirates are Saouibou Marou and Fortune Makaringe. Those are expected to be the first of a lot of players who will follow suit, in order to make way for new signings. Some of the names that have been banded about are Kermit Erasmus, Zakhele Lepasa, Thabang Monare and Bandile Shandu. Those players are set to see their deals expire at the Buccaneers at the end of the current season.

Pirates have been moving on outgoings

Furthermore, Pirates could be looking to find solutions for the likes of Bongani Sam, Goodman Mosele, Sandile Mthethwa. The same could be said about players signed just this season, in Katlego Otladisa and Lesedi Kapinga. Another player their fans have been hoping a solution will be found for is Thalente Mbatha. The midfielder is another player signing this season by the club, but his shock acquisition was only on loan.

Mbatha has since proven to be a revelation in a Pirates jersey, becoming a key cog in their midfield. A defensive midfielder that protects the back four, while keeping it simple with his use of the ball. His importance to the side was again there for all to see, when he pulled off an Man of the Match performance against Mamelodi Sundowns. This in a Nedbank Cup final against two of the best midfielders in the league in Teboho Mokoena and Marcelo Allende.

Now the burning question on everyone’s lips has been, whether or not he will stay at Pirates. Now according to his agent Mike Makaab, the deal will happen!

Mbatha as the first signing confirmed?

“At the moment, they [Orlando Pirates] are busy talking with SuperSport United to finalise the deal and make it permanent. But the deal (for Mbatha) is going to happen. It was already pre-agreed in the original agreement. Orlando Pirates had a loan with an option to make it permanent.” Confirmed Makaab to FARPost

That should prove to be a relief to Pirates fans, as they see Mbatha as a key player. But can it really be done until it is announced?
