Kaizer Chiefs coaching target in the country! (Pictures)

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be close to finalising a deal for their new coach ahead of the next season.

Chiefs have been sifting through a lot of candidates are believed to now be down to just two names.

Chiefs have been looking for a new permanent coach since they fired Molefi Ntseki even before the halfway season mark. When he got the axe, that meant Amakhosi would need a new permanent coach for a fifth season in a row. This means they will have to make sure with their next appointment.

Mosimane and Nabi the last men standing?

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise to see Chiefs linked have been looking at coaches with very impressive CV’s. Over the last couple of months Vanderlei Luxembergo was the earliest favourite outside Pitso Mosimane. The tag then moved to the likes of Raul Caneda, Jose Peseiro and Rui Vitoria. Then the latest candidates were believed to be Alexandre Santos and surprisingly TS Galaxy’s Sead Ramovic.

For the most part, however, the others were considered as more viable options as alternatives to Mosimane. That was until the emergence of Santos. The Portuguese mentor was the first real favourite that gave the public the sense that, he was competing toe-to-toe with Mosimane. In the same week as his hype, Ramovic would be a surprise entry as a strong favourite. But perhaps the biggest shock was the return of the name Nasreddine Nabi.

Nabi was Chiefs’ number one target ahead of the current season, but a deal to the club fell through. He had since moved on and found great success at AS FAR coach. But it now looks like he is the one that Amakhosi are going for. This will then put previous favourite Mosimane in an interesting position.

Jingles in the country!

But while that remains uncertain, one thing does, however, and that is that Mosimane is back in the country! Could this make things easier for Chiefs in terms of negotiations? Pictures below courtesy of MT Sports
