Rivals challenge Kaizer Chiefs to ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star!

Kaizer Chiefs are set for some competition for one of their reported targets, according to the latest reports.

Chiefs were believed to have shown an interest in former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Keletso Makgalwa in shock reports in January.

In fact, further reports went as far as saying that Chiefs had struck an agreement with Makgalwa’s current club Upington FC. This being to allow the player to finish the season with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side and only join Amakhosi at the start of next season. Those reports were vehemently refuted by both Kaizer Motaung Jr and the player’s agent.

Chiefs were believed to have signed Makgalwa

Additionally, this publication recently reported that Upington themselves are unaware of such a deal with Chiefs for Makgalwa. But now, according to FARPost, their DStv Premiership rivals Sekhukhune United, have officially registered their interest!

“Sekhukhune United have revisited their interest in Keletso Makgalwa who has been doing very well in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. In the January transfer window, Sekhukhune were interested in signing Makgalwa. But I guess no agreement could be reached at that time. So Sekhukhune are looking to intensify their approach to try and bring Makgalwa on board. This is because he’s a player who’s really admired at the club.” Said the source.

Sekhukhune now interested

It is no surprise that Chiefs and Sekhukhune are linked with Makgalwa. The former South African junior international finished the First Division season with 11 goals for Upington. He has also contributed with his fair share of assists. It is believed that he will be a free agent at the start of the next season. That giving him the power to sign for a club of his choice.

It is believed that he decided to stay at Upington in January out of loyalty, even thought there was topflight interest. It now remains to be seen if Sekhukhune or Chiefs will be his next destination.
