AmaZulu release former Kaizer Chiefs star and two others

AmaZulu have officially confirmed the departure of former Kaizer Chiefs star midfielder George Maluleka after two years at the club.

Maluleka arrived on a free transfer following his release from Mamelodi Sundowns, and while he was a regular in his first season, he didn’t see much game time last term.

And that’s due to a number of factors including his health having collapsed twice on the pitch this past season.

His departure was confirmed by AmaZulu on their social media platforms on Friday afternoon, a day after the news were broken to the media by Sandile Zungu.

Last season, the 35-year-old made 17 appearances in all competitions for Usuthu – 15 in the league and two others in Cup competitions.

Overall, Maluleka leaves AmaZulu having played for them 48 times and grabbed six assists without finding the back of the net.

It is worth mentioning that AmaZulu are the only team that Maluleka didn’t score for in his entire professional career.

WHO ELSE DID USUTHU LET GO?

Meanwhile, AmaZulu further announced that defender Veluyeke Zulu and Augustine Kwem have also been released.

Kwem was Usuthu’s top goalscorer last season while Zulu was undoubtedly one of their solid defenders at centre-back.
