Kaizer Chiefs linked with 5 PSL players with 18 goals 

Kaizer Chiefs are facing another transfer window with enormous expectations, otherwise Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates will get getting better. Here are five players linked with Amakhosi.


Four of the five names have been in the news for much of last season. One of the names is a new addition. The name of the player is Asanele Velebayi from Cape Town Spurs. He is not the only players Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing at the relegated Urban Warriors. The club’s speedy forward, Ashley Cupido is also targetted to be a Glamour Boy.

The list of targets certainly include the Bafana Bafana duo of Elias Mokwana and Oswin Appollis. Kaizer Chiefs are also linked with a defender from Stellenbosch FC, a club that has enjoyed good business with Amakhosi in the past three seasons.

  • Ashley Cupido, 22, forward, Cape Town Spurs
  • Fawaaz Basadien, 27, left-back, Stellenbosch FC
  • Asanele Velebayi, 21, forward, Cape Town City.


  • Oswin Appollis – Forward – Six goals and five assists in 30 games
  • Elias Mokwana – Forward – Four goals and five assists in 34 games
  • Ashley Cupido – Forward – Six goals and one assist in 28 games
  • Fawaaz Basadien – Left-back – One goal and six assists in 34 games
  • Asavele Velebayi – Forward – One goal and one assist in 27 games.


Dortley, Cape Town Spurs’ 22-year-old central defender/left-back, was heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs since the 2022/23 season. The Belhar-born star is no longer a target. Spurs were keen to hold on to Dortley for another season. Amakhosi were then forced to sign Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United.


Meanwhile, the former Kaizer Chiefs star, Junior Khanye, has offered his list of five players he would like to see at Amakhosi.

“Some of the players I want them to sign sit at Sundowns currently,” Khanye said via iDiski Times.

“But Chiefs got money, I think they can go and get those players, because the market in the DStv Premiership, most of the players can’t play [are not good enough] for Chiefs.

“Can they get Ashley Cupido from Cape Town Spurs, Mhulise from Sundowns, and Mbule from Sundowns.

“Also [Jayden] Adams from Stellenbosch, and [Thabo] Moloisane from Stellies also. Then they should build the team around those players,” Khanye concluded.
