Kaizer Chiefs move on from ‘Khune replacement’? rivals closing in!

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be ready to make wholesale changes to their squad ahead of next season.

The coach who will oversee those, is set to be Nasreddine Nabi who Chiefs are hoping to have soon.

Chiefs are believed to have agreed a deal with both Nabi and AS FAR to have the coach released early. The Tunisian has one more assignment in Morocco, where he’ll lead his side to the semifinal of the Throne Cup. There they will take on Meghreb Fes and it remains to be seen what will happen, should they reach the final.

Khune set to leave Chiefs?

But should he still leave as planned, Nabi is expected to make some big decision. One of those will be deciding the future’s of some of the players who’s deals are coming to an end. Perhaps the most high profile of those being club legend Itumeleng Khune. He is believed to be at a crossroads at Chiefs, with the club wanting him to retire and take up a backroom role. He, however, is rumoured to still want to continue playing. That could see him leave the club.

A further hint that he may leave is how rigorously Chiefs have been searching for a new goalkeeper. At first Stanley Nwabali of Chippa United was believed to be the perfect replacement. That has since changed. Richards Bay’s Salim Magoola was then considered.

Magoola no longer a target?

Now, according to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs may have decided to look elsewhere, from Magoola. SuperSport United are believed to be in the picture.

“Yes, there was interest from Kaizer Chiefs in the player (Magoola) but it seems that the club is also looking elsewhere for a goalkeeper. SuperSport and Chippa are some of the clubs interested in his services as he looks like he will be moving elsewhere for the new season,” said a source to the publication.

It remains to be seen if Chiefs change their minds and go for Magoola.
