Mama Joy celebrates Renaldo Gouws news

Joy Chauke, or Mama Joy, is celebrating the downfall of disgraced DA MP Renaldo Gouws, who was suspended from the party following a clip of his racist rant from 2010.

The sports fan has been tweeting up a storm about her biggest critic, including reposting several shady tweets.

The outspoken social media commentator has criticised Chauke over her receiving multiple government-sponsored trips to attend events abroad. Chauke has hinted that she will be attending the Paris Olympics next month.

The Summer Olympics, which will take place from 26 July to 11 August in Paris, France.

In a since-deleted tweet, Mama Joy said of Renaldo Gouws’ suspension: “I am the happiest woman in the whole world. Guys, I told you, you can’t talk about Mama Joy, and nothing happens. Do you believe it?”.

Chauke has also been retweeting many tweeps calling Gouws “disgusting” and “bigoted”.

The sports fan’s tweet comes a day after she met DA leader John Steenhuisen at the Union Buildings during the presidential inauguration. In a clip, Steenhuisen said: “I’m here with our favourite Mama Joy. I want to thank you for bringing the World Cup trophy back where it belongs, here to South Africa”.

Steenhuisen added: “On to the Olympics next.”

Mama Joy cheekily captioned the clip: “Not even ⁦Renaldo Gouws⁩ will stop me to go to the Olympics”.

In a showdown on X last week, Gouws said of Chauke’s ambitions to go to Paris:  “Snowball’s chance in hell. Unless you pay your own way”.

He added: “Gravy Train has derailed. She can work and earn a salary and then use that money to travel the world.

Last year, Gouws – via AfriForum –  demanded the department reveal information behind Mama Joy’s trip to the Rugby World Cup. The investigation revealed that over R1 million had been spent to send both Mama Joy and fellow fan Botha Msila to France, which included flights, accommodation, and other expenses.

While the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture has yet to confirm if it will sponsor Mama Joy’s trip to the Olympics, it wouldn’t be the first time she has attended the games.

In 2016, Chauke was invited to travel with the South African team to Brazil for the Rio Olympics.

She told IOL: “When (Gauteng Sport MEC) Faith Mazibuko told me that I was going to Rio for the Olympics, I was so happy.”

Chauke was gifted four stunning outfits by SA designer Sun Goddess to wear to the games.

According to The Star, Mama Joy was also gifted a full Bafana Bafana supporters gift, a pair of new takkies, and money.
