Ex-Orlando Pirates star ordered to pay R120k to former side!

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Xola Mlambo has been ordered to pay a lump sum back to TS Galaxy.

This comes after Mlambo lost his court case against Galaxy, pertaining to a dispute he had with the Mpumalanga-based side.

Mlambo moved from AmaZulu to TS Galaxy on a free transfer in the winter window of 2022. At that time, he had signed a two-year deal. He did not get to see out that term, however. This after a fallout with Serbian coach Sead Ramovic saw the former Pirates fan favourite’s contract terminate.

Mlambo was at loggerheads with Galaxy

According to iDiski Times, Mlambo has lost a case against Galaxy and as a result, has been ordered to fork out 120k!

“The player accused Ramovic of targeting him after the coach had called him ‘lazy’. Thus prompting the player to lodge a case for outstanding salaries on his two-year deal. But the case has been dismissed by PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC). In a letter, seen by this publication, the PSL DRC threw out Mlambo’s case. Galaxy also had a counter case for damages which was also dismissed. However, Mlambo was ordered to “repay” Galaxy R120,000 “in respect of overpaid salaries”, while he must also cover the costs of the case.” Wrote the publication.

Earlier this year, Mlambo opened up about his time at Galaxy. Taking a few digs of course.

Loses and is ordered to pay hefty penalty

“I can’t lie and say I enjoyed myself at TS Galaxy; I mean, even if you can look at the pictures of when I signed a contract [at Galaxy], they say a lot. Sometimes the decisions that we take, we have to listen to our instinct, look at the pictures when I was moving from Chippa to Wits. There’s excitement and there’s positive energy, moving from Wits to Pirates, there’s a bit of fear but there is that enthusiasm. Also moving from Pirates to AmaZulu, there, was that excitement of starting a new chapter. If you look at the contract signing with TS Galaxy, the facial expression says a lot. Sometimes, I even wonder why I made the decision, so it taught me that wherever I go, I just go with a clear heart.” Mlambo told FARPost

It remains to be seen what is now next for Mlambo and Galaxy
