Eskom to implement seven-hour power outage in Tshwane

Planned maintenance by Eskom will result in a seven-hour power outage in parts of Tshwane, Gauteng.

The maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday, 25 June from 9:00 – 16:00.

The power utility said there will be electricity supply disruption in Tshwane due to maintenance that will be conducted on the distribution network.

Rand Water commences 37-day maintenance without major issues

Rand Water has successfully initiated its scheduled maintenance operations, encountering no significant obstacles so far. The utility completed its work on the Mogale City system smoothly.

The maintenance work, which began on Saturday, aims to enhance water supply reliability across various municipalities in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and North West. 

Gauteng police dismiss gang violence rumours

The Gauteng police has expressed concern over recent social media posts claiming an increase in gang-related murders. These posts allege that 13 people were killed in gang-affected areas this week.

However, the police report only three murder cases in Westbury, Sophiatown, with no gang-related murders in Eldorado Park, Riverlea, Noordgesig, or other areas.

Man arrested for inciting public violence on social media

A 36-year-old man is scheduled to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrates Court on 24 June, for allegedly inciting public violence and advocating for the shutdown of the country and removal of President Ramaphosa.

This is in terms of violation of Section 17 of the Riotous Assemblies Act 17 of 1965.

Lesufi postpones announcement of Gauteng cabinet members

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has postponed the announcement of cabinet members for the seventh administration.

Lesufi was expected to announce the members of the executive council on Sunday, 23 June.
