MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ THAPELO MASEKO TO EXPERIENCE THE NEW AUDI S3

Soon before Sundowns travel to Austria for pre-season training this week, the 20-year-old Maseko revealed Audi gave him the new S3 to experience for a period that has not been revealed.

“Thrilled to partner with Audi Centre Vereeniging,” the Sundowns youngster said via Instagram. “Can’t wait to hit the road and share the journey! #PerfomanceMeetsStyle #AudiS3 #AudiCentreVereeniging #Sponsored.”

According to Audi South Africa, the new S3 Sportback is available in two categories, the Black Edition which costs R1 019 000, and the TFSI Quatro which costs R930, 300.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS ANNOUNCE STEVE KOMPHELA

The Kroonstad-born coach left the club in the late stages of 2023. After a couple of brief stints at Moroka Swallows and Golden Arrows, Komphela’s return has been announced by the champions, where he will assist Manqoba Mngqithi, who is still viewed as the caretaker coach.

The appointment to rejoin Sundowns marks Komphela as one of the greatest journeymen in South African football coaching.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS BIGGER THAN RULANI MOKWENA

Mamelodi Sundowns did the unthinkable this week by announcing the exit of coach Rulani Mokwena for missing achievement targets last season.

According to the club’s former striker Katlego Mashego, the DStv Premiership and African Football League champions know all about moving on from top-quality coaches. Rulani Mokwena will be no different.

“I think we need to realise that Mamelodi Sundowns is a big team, and Sundowns will continue without coach Rulani as they did with Pitso Mosimane, [Hristo] Stoichkov and many other good coaches,” Mashego told FARPost.

“So I think the team will be able to go out there and get a coach who aligns with the values and standards of the team. From the outside, you can see that there are different opinions, and such things happen in the big clubs,” the former Sundowns star added.
