Kaizer Chiefs in talks to sign overseas-based Bafana midfielder!

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have reignited their interest in a former target, as they look to strengthen for next season.

Chiefs are currently hard at work in Turkey, with the squad under the watchful eye of new coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Chiefs injury woes continue

Nabi has recently been dealt two defensive blows, with both Edmilson Dove and Bongani Sam leaving camp. Both, left-sided players were pictured in wheelchairs and a moon boot on their left leg at the airport. That could then see Chiefs going into the market for a new defender on that side.

Another area Chiefs could try to strengthen in, will be in midfield. They recently released Siyethemba Sithebe and have George Matlou out for another couple of months. That has prompted the management to bring youngster Siphesihle Tati and Manqoba Ozoemena up from the DStv Diski Challenge side. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, they have reignited their interest in Bafana Bafana midfielder Thabo Cele!

“They have been following him for almost three years now and the team’s scouts have been monitoring him and now he is back on Chiefs’ radar. Indications are that they have been talking to his representatives and the talks have been positive. “He will be like a replacement for Siyethemba Sithebe in the defensive midfield position. So it’s a opportunity that could happen in this window period,”. Said the source.

A second source claims that Cele has shown a willingness to return to the country.

Cele talks begin, is he the midfield solution?

“He has shown interest of coming back home. No one really knows which club he would want to join but at the moment it’s Chiefs who are interested in him and this could give them an advantage to sign him since they are the ones who have been showing interest in him and also inquired about him,” said the source.

Cele has previously professed his love for Chiefs and a return after little success abroad, could do the trick. How would you feel about this signing Amakhosi fans? Leave your feelings and thoughts in the comments below.
