Kaizer Chiefs to beat Orlando Pirates for top Namibian defender?

Kaizer Chiefs are set to beat rivals Orlando Pirates for Namibian left-back Riaan Hanamub.

Having lost out on Stellenbosch left-back Fawaz Basadien, Amakhosi have shifted their focus to AmaZulu star player. The Namibian international was in top form helping his country reach the last 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Hanamub was linked to Orlando Pirates earlier this year but it appears Kaizer Chiefs are favourite to sign the defender. SABC Sport said that Amakhosi were confident about signing the star.

“The public broadcaster has also been led to believe that the Soweto giants are confident they can convince Usuthu to conclude the transfer, especially with the left back said to be in the final year of his contract,” said SABC.

Kaizer Chiefs favourites to sign Hanamub, not Orlando Pirates

The 29-year-old left-back has in the past expressed his desire to play for big clubs.

“It’s every player’s dream to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country,” Hanamub told iDiski Times when asked about the links to Pirates.

“But if it doesn’t happen, AmaZulu is also a big brand and I’m really happy to be here and I’m always willing to give my best.” he said.

Hanamub has a year left in his contract and Usuthu might be happy to sell him to Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates.
