‘I believe something will come up’ – ex-Kaizer Chiefs star dumped by KZN club
Former Kaizer Chiefs star George Maluleka is a free agent after parting ways with AmaZulu.
The 35-year-old only featured 15 league matches for Usuthu following an injury-plagued season. The bossy midfielder left Chiefs for Sundowns in 2020 but found it difficult to break into the Downs’s starting eleven. Eventually, he left after two years to join AmaZulu where he rediscovered his form.

He played 26 matches in his first season with the Kwa-Zulu Natal-based team but his second-year was plagued with injuries leading to his departure. Speaking to Robert Marawa on 947, Maluleka said he was still searching for a new club.
“I’m a baller, I’m still a baller, I love football, I’m passionate about it. I’m still club hunting, and I believe something will come up,” the ex-Kaizer Chiefs star said on 947.
“My agent is still out there trying to make sure we get the right deal. But I still have a lot in my legs, so I’m not about to hang the boots just as yet.
“I have always said I love this game so much. I think at this point in time, money is the last thing on my mind. I’ve always been on the field, and that’s where I want to be. So, I just want to play,” said the midfielder.
George Maluleka became a star at Ajax Cape Town before joining Kaizer Chiefs in 2014. He was successful with Amakhosi, winning the 2014/15 premiership title with the Soweto giants under Stuart Baxter.
Where should Maluleka go next?
