Kaizer Chiefs won’t register this foreign defender for the season?

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided not to register their defender Edmilson Dove this coming season.

The versatile defender suffered an Achilles tendon rupture which could see him out of action for at least six months. Amakhosi released a statement that the Mozambican international suffered an injury during pre-season.

“Kaizer Chiefs’ defender Edmilson Dove has joined the Club’s injury list after he suffered an injury during Friday’s session at Amakhosi’s pre-season training camp in Türkiye,” Chiefs stated.

According to Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs have decided not to register the Mozambican defender this season.

“It has been a hard decision to make but they are looking for the good of the team. If they register Dove that means they are as good as minus one player. They are looking at having a player, as well as the foreign space,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

The publication also revealed that Kaizer Chiefs were looking to sign two foreign players, including a defender.

“You know the team is still looking at bringing in at least two foreign players, one striker and one defender so not registering Dove will help to have a good quota of foreign players.”

With Dove out, Kaizer Chiefs have looked to sign Stellenbosch FC defender as his replacement. The Cape side has since rejected Amakhosi’s offer for their left-back Fawaaz Basadien. Another left-back that the Soweto giants have been linked with is AmaZulu’s Riaan Hanamub. The Namibian top defender was also in the books of Orlando Pirates after impressing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
