Ex-Kaizer Chiefs talent praised by Pitso Mosimane following return to homeland, as per FARPost.

Mosimane has hailed Khama Billiat’s impressive performance in Zimbabwe’s PSL, spotlighting the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs attacker’s successful return to his home country. At 34, Billiat has rejuvenated his career at Yadah FC after struggling to secure a new club in the Betway Premiership following his departure from Chiefs.

Despite initial scepticism about his decision to return to Zimbabwe, Billiat has proven his critics wrong by becoming a key player for Yadah FC. He won the July Player of the Month award after netting three goals and providing one assist in just four matches. Currently, Billiat is a top contender for the Golden Boot, with nine goals to his name, trailing behind joint leaders William Manondo of Caps United and Tymon Machope, who both have ten goals.

Mosimane’s tribute to Billiat: Glowing endorsement

Pitso Mosimane, Billiat’s former coach at Mamelodi Sundowns, has expressed his admiration for the attacker’s resurgence. On X, Mosimane praised Billiat’s exceptional talent and his role in Sundowns’ success. “Class is permanent. One of the best players I have ever coached,” Mosimane wrote. He shared how he supported Billiat, saying, “I phoned him for a full year, every week, convincing him that I would give him support and a platform to showcase his talent and that he was the one to help us win the CAF Champions League.”

Mosimane detailed Billiat’s skills, noting his ability to score, assist, and recover balls effectively despite his small frame. “His first touch on bringing down an aerial ball was amazing,” Mosimane remarked. He also highlighted Billiat’s enjoyment of long passes, particularly from Hlompho Kekana. Mosimane reminisced about the intense training sessions, saying, “I used to put Wayne Arendse on him to sharpen his skills and help him learn how to deal with big defenders.”

Legacy of Sundowns’ star-studded squad

Mosimane celebrated the synergy between Billiat, Percy Tau, Keagan Dolly, and Themba Zwane during their time together. “What a pleasure to watch Percy, Keegan, Themba, and Khama in one team at training,” he said. He emphasised that their combined efforts led to significant success, including winning major CAF club trophies in one season.

Khama Billiat’s return to form in Zimbabwe’s PSL underscores his enduring talent and impact on the field. As he continues to excel, fans and analysts will eagerly follow his progress and anticipate further achievements in the remainder of the 2024 season
