Manqoba Mngqithi’s job on the line after MTN8 semi-final defeat ?

Manqoba Mngqithi’s job is on the line after the MTN8 semi-final defeat, Junior Khanye believes so.

iDiski TV pundit Junior Khanye has made a shocking prediction about Mngqithi’s immediate future with Sundowns. Khanye believes that Sundowns might sack Mngqithi after their surprising recent loss.

“I think Manqoba Mngqithi will be sacked by Mamelodi Sundowns,” Khanye remarked as quoted by iDiski digital magazine.

He then criticises Sundowns’ recent performance, highlighting their failure to score in three consecutive games as a major concern. “Not scoring three games in a row is unusual for this club. Sundowns did not lose too many games last season and they didn’t concede much. They are not even creating chances, they are not combining as a team,” Khanye states. He points out that while Mngqithi gave young Kutlwano Letlhaku a chance, the overall team performance remains lacklustre. “The only positive is that Manqoba gave the young Kutlwano Letlhaku a chance to play. He is a good youngster. That’s the only positive.”

Khanye praises Stellenbosch for their superior performance, noting. “Stellenbosch deserved to win their match. They created the better chances compared to Sundowns. I’m also impressed by their energy. They started and finished the game with the same pace and intensity.” He commends coach Steve Barker and his technical team for leading Stellenbosch to the MTN8 final.

Junior Khanye’s advice for Orlando Pirates star

In other football news, Junior Khanye has delivered important advice to Orlando Pirates’ Patrick Maswanganyi. Khanye urges Maswanganyi to improve his positioning and limit dribbling in his own half, following his notable performance in Pirates’ 2-0 win over Cape Town City in the MTN8 semi-final.

Khanye recognizes Maswanganyi’s talent but emphasises areas for growth. “Internationally, Tito (Maswanganyi) is going to be a problem. I like him, he’s talented, make no mistake, one of the best talents, he knows football. But he must fix his positioning,” Khanye explains.

Khanye advises Maswanganyi to avoid excessive dribbling in defensive areas and to focus on contributing off the ball. “You can’t drop too much, especially when the game is open. When Pirates were leading 1-0, the game was open, he was dropping, and I have no problems with Tito,” Khanye adds. He suggests that Maswanganyi should make runs behind the defence and engage off the ball, noting, “He has to play off the ball as well, sometimes even run behind [Tshegofatso] Mabasa so that there is a third man run to confuse opponents.”
