SAA will offer more direct flights between Perth and Johannesburg from early December.

RELAUNCHED SAA PERTH FLIGHT

South African Airways relaunched flights between Johannesburg and Perth in Western Australia on 28 April 2024.

The much-anticipated relaunch of this direct service came after a lengthy absence of SAA’s flights, for almost four years.

PERTH FLIGHT SCHEDULE

South Africa’s national airline currently offers three weekly flights between Johannesburg and Perth.

These are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Services between Perth and Johannesburg are operated on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays.

Flights are operated with an Airbus A340-300 seating 253 passengers in Business Class and Economy Class, according to Sustainability in the Sky

UP TO FIVE WEEKLY PERTH FLIGHTS

From 7 December flights will depart Johannesburg at 20:35 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays and arrive in Perth at 12:10 the following day. An additional flight will depart Johannesburg on Mondays from 6 January 2025.

SAA EXPANDS OPERATING FLEET

Since restarting operations in September 2021, South African Airways has grown its fleet from six to sixteen aircraft.

The airline has also grown its route network to fifteen routes; including domestic, regional and intercontinental services.

“We’ve reopened 11 outstations, including Mauritius, Perth, and São Paulo. Employment has grown from 500 to around 1,200 staff, with 140 pilots now on board.” said SAA’s Interim CEO John Lamola.

INCREASED PASSENGER DEMAND

South African Airways is ramping up its flight schedule to Australia due to increased demand for flights between Perth and Johannesburg.

Perth is one of the cities in Australia which is home to a significant number of South African expats.

The city is often called Perthfontein, owing to the prevalence of South Africans living there.

The increased frequencies provide more convenience for travellers in both destinations, per Latte Luxury News.
