Maswanganyi pays homage to Jomo as Pirates go top

Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi received praise for his performance against Polokwane City on Tuesday afternoon.

The 26-year-old star was one of the standout performers as the Buccaneers defeated Polokwane City 3-0 to lead the Betway Premiership. Two goals by Evidence Makgopa and an early second-half goal from Monnapule Saleng were enough to give the Sea Robbers their second successive league win.

Maswanganyi has been a key player for Orlando Pirates since his move from SuperSport United last year. With the Buccaneers involved in five different competitions, Maswanganyi, also known as Tito, will need to be fit if the Pirates are to claim several trophies this season.

So far, Jose Riveiro’s team has won seven matches this season across all competitions. This past Saturday, the team reached the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time since 2019.
