Kaizer Chiefs coach changes his mind on midfielder?
Kaizer Chiefs were reportedly set on releasing Sibongiseni Mthethwa before last week’s deadline day, but coach Nasreddine Nabi seems to have changed his mind.
SIBONGISENI MTHETHWA WAS EXPECTED TO LEAVE KAIZER CHIEFS
The date was 7 September in 2023 when Kaizer Chiefs signed Mthethwa from Stellenbosch FC. With only 20 matches played, the Escourt-born star is on the way out.
After training under Nabi’s watch since July, the Tunisian coach decided that the 30-year-old Mthethwa decided the player was not in his plans.
According to iDiski Times‘ Sinethemba Makonco, Kaizer Chiefs decided to offer Mthethwa to Stellenbosch FC and AmaZulu FC, but with no success.
“Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa has been offered to Stellenbosch FC and AmaZulu, with both sides not keen as his future at the club hangs in the balance,” the report said.
STAYING WITH AMAKHOSI
Meanwhile, coach Nabi has suggested that Mthethwa will be part of his plans this season.
“We have 32 players, and I’ve got respect for all of them. Mthethwa has particular [good] qualities, and maybe he could start against Sundowns [on Saturday],” Nabi said via FARPost.
