Baby Etzebeth makes appearance in Boks photo
She’s yet to walk or even run, but baby Etzebeth – the daughter of Springbok Eben and his wife Anlia – is already taking charge.
The baby girl was the star of the show, nabbing coach Rassie Erasmus’s place at the Boks’s photoshoot ahead of their match against Argentina this weekend.
The squad will face Los Pumas for the second time at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Captain Siya Kolisi has revealed that the team will dedicate their game to Eben, who has officially become the highest-capped player in history.
EBEN ETZEBETH REVEALS WHO’S BOSS AT SPRINGBOKS PHOTOSHOOT
On their social media accounts, Springboks staff shared a look at their popular behind-the-scenes footage of their photoshoot, which is done before every test match.
As Mzansi has seen before, there was plenty of banter between the Boks, who laughed, joked, and even ruffled each other’s hair ahead of their official photo.
But stealing the show amongst the boys was nine-month-old baby Etzebeth – the daughter of Eben – who adorably took the spot of coach Rassie Erasmus in a sweet snap.
The baby girl – whose name is not publicly known – was seen wearing a Springbok baby romper and matching yellow headband.
Eben posted the picture on his Instagram account with the cute caption, “Game plan might be a bit different tomorrow with the new coach on board.”
Eben’s wife, Anlia Etzebeth, also posted a pic of their family of three, decked in green and gold.
Praising her husband for his momentous achievement, Anlia claimed that she and baby Etzebeth were his “biggest cheerleaders.”
MOST CAPPED PLAYER IN HISTORY
Eben Etzebeth will make history this weekend when he makes his 128th test appearance for the Springboks. This means that the lock is the most-capped player in the history of the team.
Eben surpasses former Boks Victor Matfield and Bryan Habana, who boast 127 and 124 caps, respectively.
Speaking ahead of their second clash against Argentina at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, 28 September, Springboks captain Siya Kolisi revealed that the squad would dedicate their match to player Eben Etzebeth.
The towering lock will make his 128th test appearance – making him the Springboks most capped player.
Siya said: “For us as a team, the best way to show how special he is to us will be to win tomorrow. He doesn’t want this week to be about him. Winning (the game and the trophy) would mean so much more to him.”
