NSRI continues search for missing diver at Sodwana Bay
An extensive search by Police and SAAF (South African Air Force), 15 squadron, Police Search and Rescue, and assisted by NSRI, has continued for missing Warren O’Reilly, age 50, from Gauteng.
The NSRI’s Craig Lambinon confirmed that O’Reilly went missing during a technical dive offshore of Sodwana Bay on Monday, 23 September, during the early afternoon.
The SA Police Services launched an extensive search operation, assisted by NSRI St Lucia, that was joined by Police Search and Rescue and the SA Air Force, 15 Squadron, and is ongoing.
Despite the extensive ongoing search there remains no signs of O’Reilly.
NSRI issues appeal
Family has respectfully requested privacy in this difficult time.
The NSRI has appealed to commercial and recreational boaters to keep a sharp look out, South of Sodwana Bay and Southwards to beyond the Durban coastline.
Hopes remain high that the diver surfaced and is adrift at sea.
