‘Playing Kaizer Chiefs is not intimidating’ –Sundowns defender

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana is not fazed by Kaizer Chiefs supporters filling the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi and Masandawana meet this Saturday afternoon in a Betway Premiership match at the FNB Stadium. Both teams have won two league matches so far this season. Sundowns have gotten the better of Chiefs in recent years and are again favourites to win Saturday’s clash.

Kekana said Downs are used to pressure and will use their experience gained in the CAF Champions League to deal with Amakhosi.

“I don’t think it’s as intimidating, we’ve gained a lot of experience from playing in Caf (games),” he said.

“There are a lot of hostile teams and we’ve been to Cairo so it’s something that we’re used to. It’s going to be a tough game because Kaizer Chiefs are doing well right now and their rebuilding phase is looking very good but we trust and believe in our process as well,” Kekana added.

Although Masandawana are favourites, some believe Chiefs may have a chance given the change in coaching personnel at Downs. Manqoba Mngqithi took over from Rulani Mokwena in July but the ex-Golden Arrows coach already lost two games this season.

“I don’t know who doubted him (Mngqithi) but I’ve been working with him since I came to Sundowns, we understand him and we know what he wants from us,” Kekana said as per The Citizen

“It was just about us firing and I think we’re almost where we want to be but there’s still a lot of work to do.”
