Woolworths offers discount vouchers for your old jeans
Woolworths launches new Denim Drop-off programme
If you have old jeans in your closet, Woolworths wants them! A newly launched recycling programme from the retailer will give your preloved denims a new lease on life, and donors will even get a discount voucher out of it too.
According to Woolworths, the new Denim-Drop-off programme will see donated denim collected at designated clothing bins located at 20 Woolworths store till points nationally.
These denims will then be handed over to Taking Care of Business’ (TCB) Remake programme, which supports aspiring seamstresses to grow their micro-manufacturing businesses. These seamstresses will then transform the donations into newly designed products.
A 20% off voucher for donors
Feroz Koor, Woolworths Group Head of Sustainability, says that to kick start the initiative, they will give customers with WRewards membership a 20% OFF voucher for their next RE: Denim purchase with each drop-off.
“Reducing waste to landfill and supporting circularity are key components of our Good Business Journey, so we are delighted to offer our customers the opportunity to join us and TCB in creating new life for their denim clothes instead of discarding them.” Koor said.
“Our seamstresses use donations of clothing, fabric, haberdashery, and cut samples from supply chain partners like Woolworths to create various garments from handbags to dresses and skirts to toys and cushions that they then sell to support their families, “ Heidi Smith, Head of TCB’s Remake Programme also said.
