Boxer Weighs In 15 Pounds Over, Fight Cancelled; Fans Joke About His Toughest Opponent Being Cookies
Boxing sensation Curmel Moton had his fight with Bryan Mercado called off after a MAJOR weight discrepancy on Friday.
Moton, who is trained by legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather, weighed in an astonishing 15 POUNDS over the limit.
The 18-year-old boasts a 6-0 record since turning pro last September on the Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo undercard, but couldn’t maintain that streak this weekend.
Hailing from Utah, the teen was supposed to face Mercado at 133 pounds in New Jersey but instead tipped the scales at a shocking 148.7 pounds.
This dramatic weight miss led to gasps and surprise at the weigh-in, marking it as one of the most notable weight discrepancies in boxing history.
Consequently, Moton was pulled from the fight card due to the critical weight difference.
Social media users couldn’t resist mocking the rising star for his hefty weight miss, humorously linking it to a heavy Thanksgiving dinner.
One commenter quipped: “Wow, bro had the ultimate Thanksgiving feast.”
Another noted: “He didn’t even try to make weight.”
A third joked: “His toughest competitor was cookies.”

After the weigh-in debacle, Moton provided an explanation, citing issues with his bloodwork as the reason for not fighting.
On Instagram, he wrote: “I want to apologize to all the fans who planned to come to Jersey to see me fight.
“I’ve been communicating with the commission regarding my bloodwork clearance, but they misplaced my blood sample in their system [making it difficult for the fight to be sanctioned].
“I’ve been aware of this issue for three days, so there was no need to stress about making weight.
“They still insisted I weigh in for some reason, and they used that as the excuse for cancelling the fight.
“Regardless, I’ll be back in Japan on December 30th. Looking forward to seeing you all there.”
