DA Vows to Hold Former Justice Minister Accountable After Cabinet Reshuffle
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is resolute in holding former Justice Minister Thembi Simelane accountable for her purported involvement in the VBS Mutual Bank scandal, regardless of her recent cabinet reshuffle.
In President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet reorganization, Simelane has been appointed to the Ministry of Human Settlements, with Mmamoloko Kubayi taking over as the new Justice Minister.

DA Spokesperson Adv. Glynnis Breytenbach expressed disapproval about the decision and the ongoing scrutiny that Simelane has endured, labeling her continued presence in the cabinet as an affront to the intelligence of South Africans.

”Minister Simelane has been under examination for the past five months. It has taken the president five months to arrive at this decision; only the Lord knows the reason behind it.”
“Now, rather than removing her amid clear evidence of her serious conflicts and compromises, he simply shifts her to another ministry while maintaining her in cabinet—a decision that should be reconsidered until all issues are resolved.”
This mere lateral shift is nothing short of an insult to the intellect of every South African,” Breytenbach stated.
