Paraguayan Drug Mule Apprehended at OR Tambo Airport after Arriving from Brazil
Johannesburg – A 43-year-old woman from Paraguay has been apprehended at OR Tambo International Airport, marking the fourth individual detained for drug trafficking within a two-week span.
The suspect had just arrived from São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, December 6, 2024, when she was caught attempting to smuggle drugs.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, “The drug mule was taken to a local hospital where a medical X-ray confirmed the presence of foreign objects in her stomach.”
“In total, 33 drug pellets containing cocaine were eventually extracted.”
“This arrest represents the fourth drug trafficker caught at OR Tambo International Airport over the last two weeks.”
