Salah Edges Closer to Finalizing New Liverpool Contract Amid Talks Standstill
MOHAMED SALAH is reportedly nearing a new contract with Liverpool.
The Egyptian winger’s current agreement with the Reds, which was signed in June 2017, is due to expire at the end of this season.
Salah, 32, mentioned late last month that the club had not yet contacted him about extending his contract on Merseyside.
However, it now seems the Reds management has made a new contract proposal to the Egyptian international.
This news comes from The Mirror, which reports that Salah is close to finalizing a new two-year deal at Anfield.
Salah is said to have asked for a three-year contract to ensure his future with the club, while the Reds were initially offering only a one-year extension.
Nonetheless, it is believed that both parties have reached a “compromise” on a two-year deal.
The speculation regarding Salah’s imminent two-year contract follows comments from former Egyptian international Haytham Farouk, who claimed that the ex-Chelsea and Roma star had already signed a new deal.
Alongside a picture of himself with Salah, he posted on X: “Congratulations on renewing your contract with the number you like and the period you want.
“The Egyptian king reigns with his own decisions.”
