City stuns supporters by trading Makhubela for Ndwandwe

Sportswire has disclosed that Durban City, currently competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, has signed striker Menzi Ndwandwe in a player swap deal, with Ntsako Makhubela moving to Magesi FC.

Despite being a recent signing for Durban City, Makhubela was granted time off for personal issues. It has now surfaced that he has opted to transfer to Magesi, a club situated in his native Limpopo province.

Following allegations that Makhubela held contracts with both clubs, a resolution was reached: a player swap. In return for Makhubela, Durban City has acquired Ndwandwe.

Ndwandwe transitioned to Magesi from Chippa United during the off-season but saw minimal game time at the Limpopo club, totaling just 47 minutes on the field. Importantly, Magesi secured the Carling Knockout title last November, achieving a stunning upset over Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 27-year-old forward has experience with Bloemfontein Celtic, where he participated in the team that faced Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final during the 2020/21 season. His career also includes stints at Uthongathi, AmaZulu, Royal AM, TS Galaxy, and All Stars.

By making the switch to Durban City, which is leading the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Ndwandwe rekindles his relationship with his former coach, Simo Dladla, who now heads the Durban side.

This transition also resonates with Makhubela, a product of Orlando Pirates, who has previously worked with Dladla at Royal Eagles. Makhubela’s journey includes tenures with Golden Arrows, Pirates, Moroka Swallows, and Richards Bay, his last club before signing with Durban City and subsequently moving to Magesi.
