ACSA Working to Resolve Flight Delays at Cape Town Airport Caused by Power Outage

Cape Town – The disruptions in power at Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) were attributed to a damaged cable, as confirmed by the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA).

In a brief statement issued on Wednesday, (22 January 2025), ACSA noted that the disruptions have affected operations at the airport’s fuel depot, resulting in delays for landing aircraft.

“Currently, airport operations are being supported by generators while repairs are being carried out to fully restore the fuel system,” the statement indicated.

“The issue has been temporarily addressed, and refuelling operations have recommenced.”

ACSA confirmed that flight schedules have been impacted, and diversions are in effect as the team works diligently to resolve the matter as swiftly as possible.

“Passengers are encouraged to reach out to their airlines for updates regarding flight schedules,” ACSA advised.

“Furthermore, travelers are recommended to download the ACSA Mobile App for real-time flight notifications and updates.”

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank all passengers for their patience and understanding.”
