New Leadership Changes Revealed by MK Party in Gauteng and Limpopo
The MK Party has embarked on a significant reorganization of its leadership, revealing new permanent leadership structures in the Gauteng and Limpopo provinces.
This choice was approved by the party’s national officials, who possess the authority to make interim decisions regarding political, ideological, and organizational issues between meetings of the National High Command.

Restructuring of Provincial Leadership
In a media briefing, party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu expressed appreciation for the outgoing leaders’ efforts, particularly their successful coordination of the party’s first-anniversary events.

“The national officials adopted a preliminary program for 2025, which will be further developed during our annual HUVO workshop in February. This plan includes forming uMkhonto we Sizwe detachments at all levels—provincial, regional, sub-regional, and ward—throughout South Africa, aiming for completion by the end of 2025,” Shivambu stated.
Since its founding, the one-year-old party has depended on task teams but is now moving towards appointing permanent leaders in every province.
Internal Discipline and New Appointments
Recognizing internal challenges and competition for leadership roles, Shivambu stressed the importance of strict compliance with party regulations, forbidding appeals against national decisions.
“We demand utmost discipline. No parallel structures or processes outside of organizational mandates will be accepted. We will take decisive action against any defiance of the upper structures’ decisions,” he asserted.
The leadership shake-up introduces eight new members to the high command, including Serame Mogale, Luther Lebelo, Jabu Khoza, Madume Choku, Lindiwe Ntshali, Puseletso Skhosana, Dumisani Nxumalo, and Sibusiso Radebe. Mogale will also take charge of political education.

Enhancing Disciplinary and Legal Frameworks
Advocate Dali Mpofu has been designated as the chair of the National Disciplinary Committee, with party deputy president John Hlophe overseeing appeals. Shivambu underscored the importance of their legal knowledge in upholding discipline.
The party’s women’s and youth wings are being prioritized, with leadership responsible for drafting foundational documents, creating structures, and finalizing operational aspects.

Commander Nothando “Thando” Shozi—Malanga has been named national convener for the MK Women’s League, while Lindiwe Irene Makubu (Mtshali) has been appointed national coordinator. Makubu, who was born in exile and is the daughter of liberation fighter Eric Stalin Mtshali, brings a wealth of activist and leadership experience. The Women’s League will have its official launch on August 9.

For the MK Youth League, Qiniso Cibane was appointed national convener, with Nkateko Mkhabela as national coordinator. The youth league’s launch is planned for June 16.
KwaZulu-Natal is the next region scheduled for permanent leadership appointments, which will be announced on Friday. Leadership structures in other provinces, including North West, Free State, Eastern Cape, and Western Cape, are anticipated to follow suite in the upcoming weeks.
Shivambu noted that the Northern Cape lacks a detachment for now, pending the groundwork necessary for its establishment. Until then, deployed NHC representatives will manage leadership in that province.
This restructuring represents a crucial step in the MK Party’s quest to strengthen its organizational base and broaden its political impact across the nation.
