Power Restored at Cape Town International Airport
Cape Town – Electricity services have been fully restored at Cape Town International Airport after disruptions caused by a malfunctioning electrical cable.
The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) announced on Thursday, (23 January 2025), that it was “pleased to share that power has been completely restored at Cape Town International Airport.”
ACSA stated: “The required repairs were successfully completed yesterday, and power was restored completely within three hours after the incident. ACSA can confirm that operations at CTIA are running smoothly.”
“We recognize the impact of the disruption on airport activities and appreciate the patience of passengers, airlines, and stakeholders.”
“All systems are now operating as expected, and fuelling operations have resumed without any issues.”
To enhance operational resilience, ACSA has secured two additional backup generators to guarantee uninterrupted operations during critical times and mitigate the risk of future disruptions.
ACSA extended its apologies for any “inconvenience caused and values the ongoing support from all affected individuals.”
Passengers affected by the incident are advised to reach out to their airlines for the latest flight information.
“Additionally, we encourage passengers to download the ACSA Mobile App for real-time flight updates,” stated the airport operator.
