Mbombela (Nelspruit) – Shop assistant Wesley Jadè Bailly, aged 33, along with his 24-year-old friend, Fabian Roets, is currently spending the weekend behind bars following their arrest for possessing illicit drugs valued at approximately R150,000.
Bailly and Roets made their appearance in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Friday, January 24, 2025, where they were remanded in custody.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Magonseni Nkosi, spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Hawks, the two men were apprehended in Mbombela on Thursday, January 23, 2025, following a tip-off received by law enforcement.
“The suspects were detained by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Nelspruit, in collaboration with White River K9 and the Nelspruit Local Criminal Record Center (LCRC) after receiving information regarding a contravention of the Act,” stated Lieutenant Colonel Nkosi.
“Through their investigation, the team recovered controlled medicine and steroids valued at R125,000 from a shop located in The Groove shopping complex in Nelspruit.
“The shop employee Bailly and his associate Roets were arrested on the scene.”

“Further investigations led the team to the residences of the suspects, where substances believed to be drugs — including Cat, Ecstasy, LSD, Morphine, and dagga — valued at R25,000 were discovered,” added Lieutenant Colonel Nkosi.
Hawks chief Major General Nico Gerber praised the operation, stating: “Our team is dedicated to cracking down on suppliers in order to protect the lives of innocent South Africans.”
