Seven New Signings Unveiled by Durban City
Durban City, currently competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, has strengthened its squad with the addition of seven new players. Among these additions, three have joined on loan from AmaZulu: Siyanda Hlangabeza, Olwethu Mzimela, and Senzo Ndlovu.
Victor Bakah, whose transfer was previously mentioned, has officially signed with the Durban-side team, along with Mbuso Mdakane, Mphakamiseni Nene, and Menzi Ndwandwe.
The acquisition of Ndwandwe was highlighted earlier by Sportswire. He is joining Durban City as part of a swap deal that involved Ntsako Makhubela moving to the struggling Betway Premiership side Magesi FC.
Ndwandwe spent the first half of the season at Magesi, celebrating a victory in the Carling Knockout title with them last November, under coach Clinton Larsen’s leadership.
Nene makes a return to the club, having previously played when they were known as Maritzburg United. He left in 2016 to join Thanda Royal Zulu, achieving PSL promotion during the 2016/17 season under coach Roger Sikhakhane. Nene has already made one appearance for Durban City.
Now operating under a new name after rebranding from Maritzburg United during the off-season, the club is actively enhancing its roster to maintain a competitive stance in the league. Currently, Simo Dladla’s squad leads the Motsepe Foundation Championship table with 31 points from 16 matches, just one point ahead of second-placed JDR Stars.
Assuming all required paperwork is completed, the new players could make their debut in Durban City’s upcoming Motsepe Foundation Championship clash against Kruger United at Chatsworth Stadium this Friday.
