Littler became a millionaire last year, earning significant income from 11 senior PDC titles and various lucrative sponsorships.

He is currently considering how to wisely invest his wealth for the future.

The lifelong Manchester United fan is aiming to purchase a football club, although it won’t be his beloved Red Devils.

Instead, he thinks starting with a local team like Warrington Town could serve as a strategic entry into the football scene.

The Nuke, also involved in promoting the Specsavers Best Worst Team campaign, remarked: “It would be a personal investment for me in the future.

“I’ve got a local team, Warrington Town, who are in National League North… Perhaps that could be a viable option for me moving forward.”

Currently positioned at 22nd in the National League North, Warrington has never surpassed the sixth tier of English football.

However, investment from Littler could assist them in climbing the ranks, similar to Wrexham’s resurgence since being acquired by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Littler would not be the first athlete from another sport to invest in English football.

NFL legends Tom Brady and JJ Watt have made investments in Birmingham City and Burnley respectively.

Additionally, NBA superstar LeBron James holds a minority stake in Liverpool.

For the moment, Littler must focus on his darts career to sustain his earnings before venturing into other pursuits.

The young talent squared off against Michael van Gerwen in his opening bout of the Premier League Darts season on Thursday night.

Littler lost 5-6 to MVG, despite registering an impressive average of 113.91.

Even though he was eliminated after just one match, Luke Humphries believes Littler remains the top player in the world at this moment.

The night one champion stated: “Littler, the way he’s playing is remarkable. Watching that game against Van Gerwen, you’ll be fortunate to see another match like it.

“He’s definitely one of the greatest darts players I’ve come across in my career. No offense
