Bok Camp Kicks off with a Positive Atmosphere in Cape Town

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus shared his satisfaction on Tuesday about the successful kickoff of the first Bok alignment camp of the year, which came after a fruitful coaches workshop over the weekend and the arrival of invited players in the Mother City on Monday night. The main goal was to lay a solid groundwork for the 2025 season.

The camp began with a morning fitness session, followed by a variety of boardroom discussions throughout the day. During these meetings, Erasmus, Springbok General Manager Charles Wessels, and multiple coaches presented their plans and expectations for the players for the upcoming season.

This alignment camp was built upon the previous coaches’ workshop, where each coach explored their specific areas of expertise and identified elements of the game where the team could improve performance this season. This includes two additional alignment camps and a training camp in June, leading up to the Boks entering game mode in July.

Reflecting on the coaches’ workshop, Erasmus remarked: “The coaches participated in a productive interactive session, where we thoroughly examined various facets of the game, encouraging everyone to share their insights on the areas we need to improve and focus on this year in order to achieve our desired standards during training and matches.

“It was certainly a beneficial workshop that ensured complete alignment among us, while also setting the tone for what we aimed to communicate to the players.”

The Bok coach conveyed his delight regarding the first day of the camp: “It was fantastic to witness the excitement among the new players, those who have attended alignment camps before, and experienced players. Everyone embraced the opportunity to be selected for the camp and absorbed the information and frameworks provided.

“Wednesday’s session will follow a similar structure, with other coaches presenting their plans within their specialist areas, ensuring that the players leave the camp with a clear understanding of our expectations and what is necessary to be part of the playing squad this year.”
