Galaxy Officially Announces Kabini’s Transfer Agreement

TS Galaxy’s head coach Adan Beganovic has revealed the transfer of defender Samukele Kabini to the Norwegian team Molde FK.

Kabini, who is celebrating his 21st birthday today (Saturday), missed Galaxy’s 2-1 victory over AmaZulu in the Betway Premiership at King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday.

Following the match, as Galaxy moved up to third in the Betway Premiership standings with 35 points from 23 games, Beganovic confirmed Kabini’s transfer and expressed his pride in facilitating the move.

“Yes, Kabini has officially signed with another club, and we are thrilled because we have developed an outstanding talent,” Beganovic shared in an interview with Sportswire.

“Why not? If a club opts to complete a sale, it’s not a concern. We have discussed this multiple times and mutually agreed on his transfer. It’s a step forward and an excellent opportunity for him.

“We cannot impede his aspirations, and while the club has its objectives, why not? We will continue to cultivate other talented players.

“My duty is to develop players, and I derive great satisfaction from that.”

This change has resulted in Mlungisi Mbunjana stepping into the role of emergency center-back alongside Khulumane Ndamane, a decision that received additional commendation from Beganovic.

“Mbunjana performed superbly in that position, and I’m very satisfied with his performance as he surpassed my expectations,” he noted.

Kabini is currently working on acquiring his visa and necessary travel documents to move to Norway and finalize his transfer to Molde, who are in the last 16 of the UEFA Conference League.

Their transfer window will close on March 27, prior to their league opener against Sarpsborg on March 30 at their home ground, Aker Stadion.

During his time with Galaxy, which he joined at the start of last season, Kabini made 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists. Notably, all of Kabini’s goals were netted this season, marking his breakout year.

Kabini joins a Molde team with a storied history, including connections to former Manchester United striker and coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who managed the club during two different periods. In his last term, Solskjær guided the team to a second-place finish in 2018 before taking the helm at Manchester United.

This is also the club where former Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret had his tenure from January 1, 2007, to August 30, 2010.

Jonevret, who encountered difficulties in the PSL, was released by Pirates following the conclusion of the 2016/17 season after their defeat to SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Pirates also finished outside the top eight that season for the first time in PSL history.

Additionally, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is a former player of Molde, where he played for two years and scored 20 goals in 50 appearances, along with six assists.
