Family Commemorates Singer Yolanda ‘Yallunder’ Nyambezi for Her Brave Battle to the Very End
Johannesburg – The music world mourns the loss of singer Yolanda “Yallunder” Nyambezi, who has departed after battling illness for several months.
In a statement issued on Friday, (14 March 2025), the Nyembezi family expressed their sorrow: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished daughter, sister, and friend, Yolanda Nyembezi, who was known to many as Yallunder.”
The family reminisced about her as “a truly rare soul with a voice of extraordinary richness,” adding: “Yolanda illuminated this world with a spirit that was both warm and powerful.”
Born on 23 August 1994 in Bizana, Eastern Cape, she was not only a talented singer and songwriter but also a cum laude graduate in voice pedagogy, showcasing a passion for music that was as evident as her undeniable talent.
“Yolanda courageously battled illness for months, holding onto life with resilience and grace until her final moments on Thursday, (13 March 2025), at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital,” noted her family.
“Her journey exemplified unwavering strength, and even during her most vulnerable times, she remained a symbol of love, kindness, and artistry.”
“Her absence has created an unimaginable void in our lives, but we take solace in knowing that her music, her legacy, and the love she shared with the world will endure forever.”
The renowned singer-songwriter, celebrated for her collaborations with artists such as Black Coffee, Kelvin Momo, and Sjava, passed away at the young age of 30.
