Tragic Outcome: Female Passenger Dies from Cardiac Arrest in N2 Two-Car Collision

Durban – A female passenger, who was gravely injured in a collision between two cars on the N2, suffered cardiac arrest and passed away while paramedics attempted to assist her.

The accident took place on Sunday night, (16 March 2025), on the N2 North Bound prior to Umgeni.

Detailing the incident that led to the tragic outcome, ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson remarked: “Just after 8pm on Sunday evening, ALS Paramedics were dispatched to a serious accident on the N2 North Bound before Umgeni Road.”

“Upon arrival, medics found the vehicles in the fast lane and were quickly directed to a critically injured passenger.”

“Paramedics began to stabilize the woman, believed to be in her 40s, when she unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest.”

“Advanced Life Support paramedics placed the patient on a ventilator and performed various procedures to attempt to revive her; however, after some time, she was declared deceased at the scene.”

Both drivers suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.

“It is reported that one of the vehicles had broken down in the fast lane of the heavily trafficked highway when the second vehicle struck it,” Jamieson stated.

Authorities are conducting an investigation.
