Moscow Metro to Introduce 34 New Moskva-2024 Trains in 2021
Moscow – In its ongoing modernization efforts, the Moscow Metro plans to add 34 new Moskva-2024 trains to its fleet this year.
“In 2025, the Moscow Metro is set to enhance its fleet by acquiring 34 state-of-the-art Russian Moskva-2024 trains,” announced Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, on Monday, (17 March 2025).

In a statement provided to The Bulrushes, Liksutov mentioned that the modern Moskva-2024 trains will replace older carriages on Line 2 and will also be introduced on new segments of Line 16.
Liksutov highlighted that the “Moskva-2024” trains come equipped with various amenities aimed at enhancing passenger comfort, including:
- Multiple information screens.
- Seamless passage throughout the entire train.
- Climate control systems with integrated air purification.
- USB or Type-C charging connectors located on handrails.
“The Moscow Metro is a global leader in the pace of rolling stock renewal,” the statement emphasized.
“Since 2010, we have added over 4,800 new carriages, effectively increasing their total by nearly sixfold.”
Liksutov also stated that, under the directive of Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, “we will continue to modernize the trains this year. This is a crucial step towards enhancing transportation quality and passenger comfort.”
