Community Outraged Following Fatal Stabbing of 14-Year-Old Girl by Stepfather
The tragic murder of a 14-year-old girl in Ga-Thoka village, close to Mankweng, has ignited outrage and renewed demands for action against gender-based violence (GBV). The young victim was stabbed multiple times on Friday morning while on her way to school with a friend.
Stepfather Taken into Custody After Fatal Attack
A 48-year-old man, identified as the girl’s stepfather, has been apprehended in relation to this heinous crime. Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba reported that the suspect ambushed the girl, violently attacking her with a sharp instrument.

“The suspect attacked her multiple times with a sharp object and left her helpless on the ground,” Ledwaba confirmed.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the girl was sadly pronounced dead. She was still in her school uniform when law enforcement arrived on the scene.
The incident occurred near the Ga-Thoka sports ground. Reports suggest that the suspect violently attacked the girl following an altercation with her mother the previous night.

Court Appearance and Additional Allegations
The man faced the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court today, charged with premeditated murder, intimidation, and arson.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial police commissioner, has condemned the murder and urged local communities to take a stand against domestic violence.
“Such acts of violence are unacceptable,” Hadebe emphasized. “We implore communities to report incidents of domestic violence before they escalate to tragic outcomes. Speak up, seek assistance, and help break the cycle of violence.”
