Amid Club Crisis, Galaxy Appoints Top Executive from Royal AM
TS Galaxy Capitalizes on Royal AM’s Struggles by Onboarding Former Personnel
As reported by Sportswire, Isaac Lugudde-Katwe, the ex-CEO of Royal AM, has been appointed as TS Galaxy’s Chief Commercial Officer. In addition, Kuselwa Mcaba, who maintained a strong working relationship with Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize, has stepped into the role of marketing head at Galaxy.
Lugudde-Katwe’s journey as CEO at Royal AM began at the start of the previous season, coinciding with a three-year collaboration with Msunduzi Municipality.
Before assuming this position, he was associated with Roc Nation Agency, which is owned by Jay-Z and based in the United States. His hiring was aimed at attracting sponsorships for the club.
However, Sportswire indicates that his efforts faced hurdles due to a strained relationship with Royal AM’s general manager, Richard Makhoba. Makhoba has faced criticism for his management of the club, involvement in various issues, and providing subpar guidance to Mkhize.

Due to these issues, Lugudde-Katwe resigned late last year, expressing concerns that Royal AM could fall under the control of the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
In November, SARS took control of Royal AM along with various assets owned by Mkhize, citing an outstanding tax debt of R40 million. This situation resulted in delays for the players’ December salary payments, which were eventually received in January. Additionally, the league has put a stop to Royal AM’s Betway Premiership matches since December.
SARS designated Jaco Venter as the curator to oversee the club’s operations until Mkhize addresses the R40 million tax liability.
With the deadline for acquiring the club recently passing and the threat of dissolution looming over Royal AM, many employees are actively seeking new job prospects. Sportswire has learned that a former staff member is currently employed as a security guard.
Fortunately, unlike several players and staff who are now without jobs and income, both Lugudde-Katwe and Mcaba have landed new positions at TS Galaxy.
