Sekhukhune to Face Mamelodi Sundowns in Rescheduled Nedbank Cup Match

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced the rescheduled date for the Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United, now set for 28 March.

This match was previously postponed due to a scheduling conflict on 9 March. The South African Football Association (SAFA) had earmarked the Lucas Moripe Stadium for a FIFA Womenโ€™s Under-17 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Nevertheless, the PSL, which oversees venue bookings for cup competitions, had also confirmed the Sundowns-Sekhukhune match for the same stadium weeks ahead of time.

The scheduling conflict arose as the SA Under-17 World Cup qualifier was a free, daytime event, while the Sundowns-Sekhukhune match is a ticketed evening affair. To avoid potential financial losses, the PSL chose to postpone the match, as fans attending the free qualifier might opt to stay for the later game without purchasing tickets.

โ€œThe Premier Soccer League (PSL) has shared the updated fixture details for the delayed Nedbank Cup quarter-final match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United,โ€ the PSL announcement stated.

โ€œThe highly anticipated match will now take place on Friday, 28 March 2025 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with a kick-off at 19:00.

โ€œTickets can be obtained at TicketPro outlets nationwide for R60 each. Fans holding valid tickets from the postponed match must visit the verification booth on match day to receive a new ticket. However, those who opted for a refund will need to purchase a new ticket.โ€

The winner of this match will proceed to compete against Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final, while the defending champions, Orlando Pirates, will face Marumo Gallants in the other semi-final.
