Tyler Heaps, the sporting director for San Diego, commented: “I’m not sure where these rumors come from. I’ve talked to the agent.
“He represents many players, naturally.
“Whenever I see him, I ask, ‘Are you the one behind these rumors?’
“He’s an outstanding player and enjoys this area.

“He vacations here every year, but I’m not clear about the origin of this ongoing speculation.
“I’ve had conversations with him, but I can promise you, his salary expectations greatly exceed our current budget.”
