He had previously come off the bench for the Young Lions during their 5-3 defeat to France on Friday.

After showcasing his skills in training and impressing manager Lee Carsley, he secured his first starting position ahead of the match against Portugal.

England started strong in the friendly with midfielder Hayden Hackney scoring the initial goal.

Nwaneri then doubled the lead in the 10th minute.

The Arsenal prospect received the ball about 40 yards from goal, made a turn, cut inside, and curled a shot into the bottom left corner.

Fans of the Gunners quickly took to social media to express their enthusiasm, with one user commenting, “This boy is special.”

Another noted, “That signature goal, you just know it’s HIM.”

A third fan added, “How does he already have a trademark finish at 18??! It’s incredible.”
